If you want to study Portuguese with FALA AÍ for an extended period of time we can provide you with the necessary documents to apply for a Brazil student visa at your local Brazilian consulate or embassy before you arrive in Brazil or at the Federal Police here in Rio de Janeiro. As you might imagine, this involves a bureaucratic process which may take some time, so we recommend that you only go through this process if you plan to stay in Brazil for longer than 90 days and do not intend to travel to Brazil within the next few weeks. For shorter periods, we recommend entering the country on a tourist visa.
If you want to study Portuguese in Brazil, the student visa is the best option to legally stay in the country during your course.
Fala Aí Portuguese for Foreigners can assist you throughout this process by providing all the necessary documentation to apply for your visa at the Brazilian consulate in your country.
### How the process works

Contact the Brazilian consulate or embassy in your country to find out which documents are required (they may vary depending on your country), or check the Federal Police website below for applications made in Brazil:

5. Apply for the visa
With all documents in hand, apply for the visa at the Brazilian consulate in your country or at the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, or Florianópolis.

### Important notice
Applicants from countries experiencing humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, civil wars, or significant social instability may face stricter consular review.
In such cases, it is common for the Brazilian consulate not to accept the school enrollment letter alone as sufficient justification, which may significantly increase the chances of visa denial.
We strongly recommend that these applicants carefully check the specific requirements with the consulate before starting the process. Depending on the situation, it may be more appropriate to seek another institution or consider a different type of visa.

### Visa renewal
Visa renewal is done directly in Brazil and may follow different rules from the initial application. Our team can guide you regarding the required documents, but the process itself is handled by the Federal Police.
